May 20 2018 Panel: Yoga for Diabetes and Health

It is my great pleasure to join a FREE and informative panel talk on May 20, hosted by Yoga Australia.

“Yoga for Diabetes: How to manage your Health with Yoga and Ayurveda” is presented by Rachel Zinman.

Rachel will be joined by an expert panel interested in the art of healing from both a medical and alternative health perspective, exploring questions such as:

  • Why is diabetes so prevalent in our society?
  • What is blood sugar dysregulation, and how does it impact our Foundational Health?
  • How does Yoga contribute to our optimal health?

The panelists, (see below for biographies) who support people with all types of diabetes will speak from their own experience of working with people living with diabetes on what it means to go from surviving to thriving while living with a chronic condition.

Join Rachel and the panel for this informative and transformational discussion on what it means to live well with a chronic health condition and celebrate the launch of the beautiful and groundbreaking book.

Lighten your heart and put a spring in your step

After Winter we all have some degree of accumulation, heaviness, dullness or imbalance; this is the perfect time to harness the changing energies of the incoming Spring.
Time to clear out the old, the stagnant and
• Investigate your own constitution and tendencies
• Take time to reflect on the qualities associated with each dosa
• Explore and investigate the effect of the guna-s on your personal wellbeing
• Consider some positive step by step plans for the rest of the year.
• Commit afresh to the wonderful work of reharmonising your own unique system.
Slowly and surely, you will feel the benefits in every dimension of your life.

Workshop and discussion will be followed by a practice, cleansing the system through asana, restoring balance through conscious breathing practices, sound, relaxation and finish with a meditation to integrate your intention.

Ayurveda, a sister science to yoga, tells us that the foundation for good health is rooted and sustained in our daily life, in our practice, in what and how we eat, in our lifestyles. As in yoga, the benefits only come with and through our practice, requiring us to establish a positive approach to regular self-care routines

The Heart of Compassion – Oct/Nov 2014

The Heart of Compassion

A 6-week course of Buddhist teachings and meditation practices on Compassion

When: Wednesday 7:00 – 8:15pm, 15th October to 19th November 2014
Where: 181a Nelson Place, Williamstown (above the Tick Tok café).
His Holiness the Dalai Lama describes compassion as a combination of empathy and reason. In this short course we shall explore what this means through engaging with Buddhist teachings and meditation practices on compassion and loving kindness.
Buddhist compassion arises out of a sense of kinship with others, acknowledging that all living beings have the same wish: to be happy and to avoid suffering. First we learn to be with our own thoughts and emotions in a kind and non-judgmental way. This leads us to develop our capacity for extending that same kindness and understanding to others. In this way we can actively contribute to peace in our world.

This course is suited to those with some meditation experience.

Teacher: Vyvyan Mishra has been practising Buddhist meditation for 30 years, and has been a meditation teacher for 15 years.

Cost: $180 / (concession $150*)
*If the concession fee is difficult for you, please call Vyvyan to discuss an alternative amount.
