‘When I first met Deb, I was lethargic and continually felt bloated, despite a healthy diet regime. The asanas Deb gave me had an immediate positive effect on my digestive system

As a life and health tool yoga has, and always will be, invaluable to me. I know that with Deb’s help my practice will grow and change with me. It feels like my life and body are continually changing and I’m always being challenged by one thing or another. It’s encouraging to me that Deb is always there with advice, I believe she has an instinct about my needs and always seems to know exactly what is needed. I don’t believe I could have continued to practise yoga over these years without Deb’s individual attention.’

Deb’s classes provide a friendly safe space for students of all ages.

Her clear and concise, yet gentle guidance through each asana and vinyasa incorporates correct position, controlled breath and counterpose.

Yoga has taught me acceptance of myself and given me the opportunity and strength to challenge my full potential.

Deb has provided me with a non-judgmental and peaceful space where I can return home – to myself.

Sound and Silence. I observed the power that Deb and Vyv had in holding space. The power of setting boundaries. The power of trust in the teacher. The power of trust in the group.

The weekend flowed, the timing of the sessions, the balance between physical movement, ‘doing’ something in the form of chanting and sitting still in meditation. The food, the ambience of the place itself, the trees, the birds... I learnt about myself, but it is not learning that one can put into words.

Vyv and Deb  are really experienced teachers, established in their own practices, working with us, sharing with us, inviting us into something… I feel it is a privilege to be part of this group, part of this Sangha group of women.

Deb Robertson’s extensive training in Yoga Meditation, especially her Vedic Chanting practice, has had a profoundly positive effect on how I am in my world and how I interact with others physically and psychologically. In addition to her natural generosity and gentleness, Deb’s extraordinary ability in formal Chant has had an important cumulative effect for me. (Past attempts in practising meditation techniques have helped me only briefly and superficially unfortunately.) Deb’s practice has enabled me to comprehend and summon my own capacities to deal with anxiety, change, moderate my reactions and judgments, and manage chronic health problems.

Deb is a caring, intuitive teacher who has helped guide my yoga journey for nearly 10 years. As a musician and singer, I find the benefits of yoga, and in particular chanting, invaluable to my health and wellbeing. Since I started the Vedic Chanting classes with Deb, my voice has become easier to control resulting in better performances in the studio and on stage. I’m also grateful to Deb for supporting me through some difficult health issues with her private sessions and personalised yoga practice.

Vedic chanting is an amazing tool for ‘being’, connecting with oneself and others, focus, uplifting, grounding, connecting to the heart space and healing. I have a wonderful teacher and mentor in Deb Robertson of the ‘Real Yoga’ tradition of T Krishnamacharya.

Deb in turn is mentored by Menaka, wife to the late and extremely knowledgable Sri Desikachar, son of Krishamacharya who is known as ‘the teacher of the teachers’ and the essence of yoga in the modern world.

I feel truly blessed when chanting and know I have a very powerful tool for yoga and life. Namaste

For the past 12 years Deb has attended to my health and general wellbeing, as my Yoga Therapist. She has helped me through chronic and accidental physical illnesses, as well as mental health challenges.

Experience of Deb’s guidance has shown me she has a unique ability, when compared with my other carers, to know what asanas, chanting, or life changes I need, often appearing only minor, for me to move past my current barriers to wellbeing, and face life with strength, courage, and stillness. She is not treating the symptoms but my overall wellbeing, so being complementary to my mainstream medicine.

I trust Deb implicitly, and doctors, noting my overall health, have always been encouraging, if not admiring, of my practice. For her part, Deb always starts her consultation by asking about my current physical and mental health.

We were both thrilled recently when my last cardiac test results showed a significant improvement in my overall heart function, though I have heart disease and suffered from a heart attack some years ago. I had spent the previous period Vedic chanting individually with Deb, and regularly with her small chanting group. I knew this was helping my breathing and lung capacity, as I could measure it against my ability when I started, but was surprised by the cardiac test results, particularly as my physical health at the time was severely limiting my ability to physical exercise. I firmly believe chanting was the cause for the change, and particularly recommend chanting in a small group to gain added strength and peace from it, both for the individual and the community.

Even if I don’t have the breath strength to speak out loud, just chanting in my head brings peace and relaxation, and so I have been moved through crisis.

I will always value Deb’s teachings, and am very appreciative of her knowledge, wisdom, and continued studies in India.

Having dabbled in yoga for over 20 years, I felt I needed to link to my mind as well as my body. The exercise component was important, but the mind component was becoming more important to me. I was drawn to the wisdom of Deb’s yoga classes. I feel I learn or experience something positive in each class. I know I’ve just scratched the surface of this amazing world and Deb is helping me to navigate it. Yoga used to be something I did once a week in a studio as a form of exercise. Now it is part of my daily life. It has enriched my life so much.
